First lesson tomorrow ! It's 1/2hr of toddler 'fun in the water' with music and toys...
Excited but also not sure how baby will react! (And what to do if he hates it!!!)

Anyone have any top-tips??

I started mine at around 6 weeks and she loved it. I think keeping them warm enough is key so you might want to use a happy nappy for insulation. Also make sure you go with his feelings so if he seems upset he doesn't have to do something like get his face wet.
And don't despair if he doesn't like it the first time, he may get used to it.
Have fun!

Mine loves swimming and started at about that age. My only tips are practical - I always wear my swimming costume under my clothes so get ready before I take the baby out of the buggy. Then I get him ready. When we get out, I shower to get the chlorine off him, get him all dressed (and take towel into pool area so he doesn't get cold), pop him in the buggy then get quickly dressed myself. I always park the buggy by the lockers so I can do a quick change there. You find your rhythm once you have been once or twice I find!
Have fun!! My baby is now 11 months and we jus started the new term and he was so excited about being back in the water!!

Yeah I think it's the 'logistics' that concern me most I think - you're right I guess a few goes to find our rhythm of changing etc. ??

We use a happy nappy, there very good at containing any accidents and are made of wet suit material. They also do larger 'wet suits' that cover the chest. DD is now 8months and she lasts a good 45mins or so in our local pool which is not that warm. She's also been fine in the outdoor pool too. I recommend taking the nappy/shorts off before you wrap them in a towel if you can otherwise they soak the towel. If your using disposable swimming nappies they can be washed in the washing machine, dried and reused loads. We went for a week in Spain swimming twice a day every day and only used 2 swim nappies (she never pooed in them though! ) Enjoy the swimming Grin

Thanks everyone it was great! But prams aren't allowed in the changing area which threw me a bit but now I know it will be easier (I hope) next week

Huggies do a really useful swim mat. It's non slip and made of wet suit material. DD sits/lays on that. The baby wraps, also made of wetsuit material, really do keep their little bodies warm.

Enjoy. My DD loves swimming Smile
