can I have my evenings back?

Dd is 9 weeks old and sleeping from around midnight until 6:30 am, having a quick feed and then back to sleep until midday. She is most awake in the evening from 7-11. around
I'd be perfectly happy with this but dd1 (2.5 ) wakes around 7 am and goes to bed around 7pm. Aside from when I'm sleeping I have literally no child free time and dh and I have no time alone together at all. I'd really like to adjust dd2s schedule so she sleeps in the evening and is awake in the morning. Is this possible? if so how? Or am I expecting too much and this is how life is with a toddler and a newborn? it just all feels a bit relentless at the moment!

I think it will change soon....but it seems a long time for DD2 to be sleeping in the morning after a solid sleep at night....I would personally be trying to keep her up longer after her quick feed in the morning. That 6.30am to midday sleep is a lot after a full day....but then we're talking about a very small baby and they do tend to do what they want a bit for some time yet!

It depends how willing you are to "manage" her sleep at this point really.

My dd is like that but the last week she has started to settle more around 8pm. We feed her at 7 and then she goes down with a dummy. We do try and keep her awake from about 4ish but we have done this for a while and it made no difference. I think she just decidedto do it herself. She is 11 weeks now

I think you could bring bedtime back a bit, gradually, but I'd be a bit wary of pushing it back to 7 (even if you can) because you may find as she gets older and less sleepy, a 7pm bedtime could mean she is quite restless and wakes often from 3/4am...

Thanks, I think I'll try and gradually move it forward a little, tbh I would be happy even with a 9/9:30 bedtime at least then I'd have an hour or so to myself. I'm just not sure if she's too young to try and fit into a routine. .

I agree with the gradual...change things by half an hour every few days...so after a fortnight she is going to bed by 7.30

I got evenings back (well, 8pm until I go to bed around 10pm) from 4 months both times.
