Is this weird?

My just turned 9 month old unlocked my iPad (pressed the little 'home' button and slid the wee marker thing across the screen).

I don't know why, but it freaked me out! I don't think we spend that much time playing with the iPad at least not every day. I read stories to her from it and play some simple games together.

Tell me I'm not a shit mum and that I'm not cultivating a little screen junkie already Sad

Do you think it might have been a fluke?

goforthejobular · 20/08/2013 19:31

Today's kids will have to be screen junkies! Get the child programming and building computers Wink

There's a utube video of a baby sliding her finger across a magazine cover trying to make it change!

I think kids have a knack with these things!
Rather than thinking you're a crap mum, think of the fact your DC may have learned to do that without a great deal of practice!
My 2 year old is an absolute whizz on my phone - in fact, he knows his way round pretty much any phone and can go into YouTube/channel 5/TV catchup apps as well as games and photos without any help. He's even better than his 4 year old sister at it. He doesn't go on it much but still seems to 'get' it.

Obviously your 9 month old is a technology genius in the making! Wink

I thought that at first ellesabe but I put the iPad in front of her again later in the evening and she did it again.

Maybe I shouldn't use it in front of her anymore

Our dc was able to do that and delete apps from a similar age.

LongDivision · 20/08/2013 22:28

Mine did this, too. I suspect it's just a natural (and, as it turns out, lucky) movement for them to move their fingers in that way. DS is also very skilled at smearing food all over the table and wall, sliding greasy fingers across windows, etc.

I don't think it's weird, my 8 month old turns the pages in books which I would assume is a similar level of difficulty. It really amazes me how fast thay learn new things!

My DP couldn't work my iPad the other day. Now THAT'S weird!
But my 14 month tried to help
