Would you have said something ?

She arrives late every bloody morning in her merc convertable and pulls this poor little 4 year old up the path, did I mention she's late.
As we came out I saw her today and then looked past her to see where she'd parked, I was going to wait and say something but lost my bottle - would you ?

Oh God really. Are you a frustrated traffic warden or something. how dreadfully busy bodyish.

plug · 14/06/2006 21:21

Don't hold back now flum

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 14/06/2006 21:21

I'm not sure its busybodyish- children get knocked down because of this sort of thing- it's inconsiderate, (but I prob wouldn;t have said anything unless I'd had a really bad day!)

moondog · 14/06/2006 21:22

Yes I would.
Something like
'When a child has been run over and killed, perhaps you will realise why you really shouldn't be parking there.'

(Or alert head to the problem.)

Onbly if persistent offender however.

SoupDragon · 14/06/2006 21:22

Yes.

The zigsags are there for a reason FFS!

tenalady · 14/06/2006 21:22

Nah,leave it. If there was swarms of kids around and it was a genuine hazard which she repeats then I would have a word with the H Teacher maybe.

Blu · 14/06/2006 21:23

No I wouldn't.
if people regularly completely ignored the zigzags as children were arriving, i would bring it up with the school secretary and ask them to mention it in a school newsletter.
But I wouldn't harrass a harrassed woman on a one-off when the other children were inside the gates!

FrannyandZooey · 14/06/2006 21:23

I don't think it's busy bodyish to worry about someone parked on zigzags outside a school. The zigzags are there for safety reasons.

No she shouldn't park there. But who's business is it if she's late or not, she can't be that late if you see her, unless your late and want to take the focus of your lateness.

I'm sometimes late, i usually have a very valid reason.

NatalieJane · 14/06/2006 21:25

I would have said something, would it be OK if she'd have ignored the speed limit instead?

mummydear · 14/06/2006 21:27

If you don't want to say anything direct to her make a note of the Registration number and tell the school office. They may put a note up or in the next school newsletter remind parents not to do it as a child could get seriously injured and killed. There is a resons why these zig zags are there !!

We have this problem at our school and as I walk to school every morning and have to cross theroad I find it really annoying and it is the same people all the time. I have no hestiation in telling people who park on the zig zags and I have seen other parents tell them as well.

Please mention it to the school if you feel that you cannot say something direct.

Twinkie1 · 14/06/2006 21:28

Kids have been knocked over outside DDs school and the school publishes your Reg no in the newsletter but people still do it!!!

I would keep the kid in at the end of the ay and make the parent come and get it and then gove them a warning that their reg will be passed onto the police if they continue offending - I get really pissed off about this as you can see - being a SAHM I get pissed off about a lot of things though!!!

"she can't be that late if you see her" Not true - I see people arriving as I'm leaving school having dropped DSs off.

Flum · 14/06/2006 21:29

yeah well. zig zags big deal. i'm fed up with ALL the road safety stuff - too much to look at when your driving - so much so I often find it puts me off my mobile phone conversation or mascara application when I am driving.

SoupDragon · 14/06/2006 21:30

Chuck a water balloon in through the roof of her car. If she complains point out that had she not been illegally parked onthe zigzags, the balloon would have missed.

fairyfly · 14/06/2006 21:31

Tis true, it cant be that late, not an hour late, anyway my point is, thats not anyones business. Stick to the point in hand.

MarsLady · 14/06/2006 21:31

I've said something before and would do again. It's not that difficult to park a bit further away.

Our community policeman sometimes does a stint standing at the school gates. The persistent offenders stop whilst he's there and re-appear once he's gone. So clearly if they can find other parking spaces when he's there................ nuff said I think.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/06/2006 21:31

Nah, dont say anything, just hock a lugey on her windscreen as you walk past.

Blu · 14/06/2006 21:33

Umm - aren't zigzags on the school side of a road going to be more effective as the kids are coming OUT? It's coming out from parked cars on the other side of the road that is going to be dangerous on the way in!

notanotter · 14/06/2006 21:34

fab soupy Wink

nicnack2 · 14/06/2006 21:34

our local paper has a campiagn 'keeping our kids safe' they have had a blitz outside schools and printed pictures of the offending vehicles (minus reg plates before anyone say privacy and all that)illegaly parked on zigzags. seems to work

mummydear · 14/06/2006 21:36

We have the zig zags on the school side and a big KEEP CLEAR on the other opposite side of the road on a raised bit of road which parenst use to cross. on the KEEP CLEAR people tend to park which obstructs the view of on coming cars etc .

AngelaD · 14/06/2006 21:44

I only mention the lateness because she's so bloody arrogant it's like the 9am start and the zigzags don't apply to her.
