He had a speech delay until recently where he has had a sudden language burst. He can actually say, 'see you soon' without opening his mouth!

Went to SALT today and she was intrigued how he says his s's and f's through his nasal passage and has referred him to a specialist to rule out Submucous cleft palate.

Anyone else had a child gifted enough to speak without moving lips? Or with Submucous palate?

How was it is resolved? Any advice how I can help? I get him to stand in front of the mirror to say sammy snake says ssssssss, but it comes from his nose, however often we practise.

Thanks all

Well this isn't comparible really but I had a sibilant S as a younger woman...and in Drama school, the speech teacher taught me to practice S sounds by saying Sausage...but with a T....so I had to say T-sausage...over and over...hitting the T helped me hit the S...could you try that? Can he manage a T sound?

Hi Neo, thank you so much for your advice! He cannot say his t's yet but I will remember what you said for when he masters this!

It helped me but I was 25! It should help when he's older for sure. I should stress that it was the sound of a T rather than a tee sound that I made.
