Cot issue

I am 4ft 11 and my DD is currently 10mo and still on the highest level in her cot - she can't pull herself up yet so not an immediate problem...however...

When she does, I have a problem, lowering the base level will mean I can't lay her down / get her out let alone moving it down to the lowest level - it doesn't have a dropside.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? The cot turns into a cotbed.

Could you stand on a little stool to do it?

Stretch? ideally you want to keep the cot until she's closer to 3 - and she will be pulling herself up shortly. Or swap it for a cot with a drop side option.

A stool is an option. Sim - if stretching was an option I would! Being short actually stretching over the bar would require breaking a rib or two and I can't afford another cot!

I think you should think about a stool but you would need to be careful that it was big enough so your can't easily misstep.

I am 5ft 2 and this is why we got a drop side. Stretching isn't really an option!

We have a mattress next to the cot bed. It has come in so handy as you can just go back to sleep after a three am disturbance. Anyway that would add a few inches of height for you although it does take up lots of space. I think a drop side cot would be a better long term option though if you are very short.

How is the cot constructed? Is there any way you can create an extra level by drilling extra holes for the base level to slot into? if so you could create a level which is a bit higher than the low level but hopefully still low enough to be safe. We did this (but for other reasons) with our Ikea cot.

But what about putting a sleeping baby in it? Getting a standing baby out is no problem but my 9 month old is asleep when I put her down so I need to bend the full way. As yet I have not had to resort to the drop side but then I have a few inches on OP.
