Hi,

Im looking for some help with my 8 week old baby boy, he tends to sleep from 9pm through till 6am without waking for a feed. I wake him at half 12 an he'll maybe take an ounce, then the same at 4am. About 6 we wake up but he wont have a proper feed until about 12 mid day. Hes putting on weight, 7lb born an now 11lb 4oz. He has reflux which he gets gaviscon for, also had to stop breastfeeding at 2 weeks, due to reflux, then stopped expressing at 6 weeks.

Does anyone know if this is normal, an if hes ok, my elder son spent 10 weeks in ICU so this is my first proper time with a new born on my own.

Has he always slept through the night or is this new? This may be of no help whatsoever as my situation with my daughter has been entirely different (no feeding issues) but she started sleeping through the night (11pm-7am) around 7 or 8 weeks of age and did so until she was about 16/17 weeks. The change from sleeping through to not sleeping through was purely a developmental thing (patterns of sleep changing to those of an adult). She did however feed well and often during the day so like I say, maybe no help to you whatsoever! The fact that he is putting on weight is a sign not to worry too much and I take it he seems healthy and happy?

My DS started sleeping through at 8 weeks he lasted until about 16 weeks then the 4 month sleep regression kicked in its not necessarily an issue.

He seems happy enough, not whingy, infact id say hes a very easy baby. Glad it seems normal, i was expecting to be up every hour or so, i'll just enjoy the sleep then an stop worrying Grin
