DD(5) behaviour is suddenly atrocious!

That's it really. Suddenly she has an answer for everything and questions every request. She now refuses to go to bed in her own room and falls asleep on the sofa every night (by about 8pm it has to be said) and is then carried up. If we insist, meltdown ensues and she gets herself absolutely hysterical, waking DS(17mths)..

She had a friend over to play today for the first time in a while and despite having looked forward to the date for weeks, was grumpy and refused to do anything the friend wanted to do. Felt so sorry for the friend as despite strong words, placing on the step and then threats of withdrawn treats, this carried on all day.

She is good as gold at other people's houses and at school. What is going on, is this normal?

Any advice or experience much appreciated!

Mine's the same. Also 5. Confused I think it's a combo of no school having gotten used to it for ages...and a growth spurt/development.

I try to hug a lot...seems to help! As for the refusing bed I don't think I'd be allowing that...I'd rather tussle for an hour than have that happen!

Oh, it's more than an hour of putting back in her room, ,screaming, kicking doors, making herself wretch etc. our poor neighbours must wonder what we're doing to her. She says she's scared but has the option to sleep in the spare room just next to the living room where we are, then be carried up when asleep.
