Balance bikes for really short toddlers?

My 2.6 DC is on the short side for his age. The Kurve balance bike we've been given is 40cms from saddle to floor and he's a good few cms short in the leg for it (if we take into consideration how his legs need to move on the bike).

He's super sporty and is desperate to have a bike. Anyone recommend other makes which are smaller - but good quality?

Thanks a lot

Have you had a look at the Puky?

This strider bike strider is supposed to be suitable from 18 months. I'm not sure of the seat height though.

We've got a scoot balance bike for DD - it fits her ok and she's teeny tiny, she's 2.6 and has never quite made it on to the 0.4th centile for height. Seems really good quality, just can't get her to use it....she prefers the £10 plastic trike my DM got her....sigh

We had a Specialised Hotwalk for DD - third birthday present.

She's graduated to an Islabike now. My DS (21 mths) is now riding on it. He is a tall 21 mths though. We cut the end off the seat post so that the saddle sits right on the top of the frame.

Hvae you looked at the Islabike Rothan? They suggest a minimum height of 88cm.

Sorry, I mean my DS is now riding the Specialised Hotwalk.

DS2 has got a PUKY LRM-its the smallest and lightest balance bike there is. Im pretty sure the seat is about 32cm at its lowest point but I could be wrong.

He was still wearing 12-18 months clothes when he got it to give you an idea of his size and it was fine on the lowest setting.

We tried a Strider as well and although the seat height was fine when he was on it his legs were so short that he couldn't get them over the bit between the seat and the handlebars whereas the Puky one is completely flat there so much easier for them to get over. He has had it about a year now and loves it.

DD2 has just inherited DD1's balance bike..a 10 inch one from Toys r us.

DD2 is tiny! She was 3 in May but easily passes for 2. On last measurement she was 0.9th centile for height. She 'just' passed the 0.9 height limit for the rides at the funfair last weekend!

With the seat right down low to the frame it fits her fine. She may have little legs but she really shifts!! Shes only been on it a few times and is already lifting her feet and gliding along at top speed!

A little balance bike success story- DD2 turned 5 a few weeks ago and got a new bike for her birthday. A 12inch bike without stablizers (Shes tiny too!). First try on it at the park she was pedaling about no problem but needed a push to start off. Today was outing number 2 on the bike and shes cracked starting off on her own. This from a super cautious nervous child too. It took her a while to get used to the balance bike as she would freak out at wobbling but its been so worth while in the long term! :)
