How to handle fussy eating toddler?

My dd (nearly 2) has always been a fussy eater, but I try not to stress about it too much as she is growing normally. I'm just wondering what the best thing to do in a situation which keeps happening lately. I give her her dinner (the same as what I am eating, and we sit at the table together.) I eat my meal, she plays with her food and refuses to touch anything. Then she says 'finished now' then gives me her plate and immediately says 'snack time' or starts asking for specific foods eg banana.
Do I give her what she wants or refuse? If I refuse she gets very upset and starts shouting 'hungry!' I usually offer her her dinner again at this point, but that just makes her scream louder! Some days I struggle to get her to eat anything like a proper meal, and I'm really not sure how to resolve it. The only snacks she has regularly are fruit and rice cakes, and I usually give her yogurt for pudding (which she always eats)

Ha ha clever girl. I'd just offer the food again and stop puddings for a few days. If she was hungry she would eat it. She will probably scream but just ignore and calmly tell her that screaming doesn't get her what she wants. Try to take her away from the table and distract her with something else. If she says she is hungry again later, offer her the same food again.

Like most things with DC it usually takes 3 days for them to get the message that you mean business.

You might find the book My Child Won't Eat by Carlos Gonzalez helpful too Smile
