What do you do when they get active?

My 7mo has now started crawling, we've had rolling for a while but over the last week he's just got so much better at moving. Moving to play with things on the TV stand, moving towards the hard edge of the fireplace, moving towards the bin. It's been none stop today and I'm exhausted. So what do you do when they just don't stop?

Get exhausted I'm afraid! They just get faster and into more!

Player.
We used the travel cot!

Baby proof. By that I mean fix bookshelves to the wall, remove anything dangerous, put cables etc out of sight. We did this to give both DCs a safe room to roam in.

In the same boat here. This week DDs (7 months) rolling has got a lot quicker and persistent and she's rocking on all fours so will be crawling soon. We've put away our coffee table and all wires are pinned to the wall, skirting, carpet etc. No small items are in reaching distance. We also have a play pen/ travel cot for when I'm not nearby to keep an eye on her (going to the loo etc).

The only issue is the Sky Box. For now we are putting a rattan basket infront of it which she can't move. But we need a permanent solution.

Every morning I chuck some cushions on the floor to create a little soft cushioned area, which is basically the perimetre of the room. Doesn't last very long though Hmm.

Definitely baby proof. We have only just put a house plant back in place and DD2 is 26 months! She has only just started not to scoop out all the soil and scatter it round the house / eat it etc.

But also - search the archives here for "treasure basket" or, as it's also known, "wanky basket" or even "wnaky basket". Think it's a poster called FrannyandZooey who posted about them. Basically a basket you put together with lots and lots of interesting baby-safe objects (eg pine cone, toothbrush, sponge, piece of silky material, tea strainer, small wooden object of some kind etc etc) - keeps them occupied for absolutely ages (eg 40 mins!!) and ideal for this age. So stops them crawling like a maniac and creating havoc!

You can google them and pay £££££ or you can just create your own. I think I made up mine with just stuff lying around the house.

Hate to break it to you, but they only get busier! Baby proof EVERYTHING.

Brilliant idea Wigeon. Who said babies need toys? Household objects are much more entertaining and cheaper.

I was afraid that was the answer, it's just exhausting. Especially since DP keeps forgetting to stop leaving cups at baby height so I have to run around after him too!
I've been talking about a basket of stuff with the leader of the baby group so I'm going to have a look for bits next time I'm near a Wilkos/Poundshop.
