Could this awful high pitch squealing be because of eczema??

5mo DD has days when she makes this AWFUL high pitched squeal. It can go on for two hours at a time, squealing every ten seconds or so. It isn't actually as if she is in pain; in fact I just thought maybe she was overexcited... But there is a bit of an edge to it and occasionally it turns into a grouchy cry...

Was wondering if it was teething related...

But todayI have started to wonder if she is itchy because of eczema. And if that is making her squeal. She has a patch on her elbow and today it is quite bad... Lo and behold the squealing has Ben bad today too.

Trying to remember when it has been worst and wondering g if correlated with eczema being worse thn too...

Fwiw I think she isn't tolerating fruit well, she has been having v v tiny amounts of purée (mostly formula with a little purée) for a couple of weeks and I have noticed her elbow is worse after apple/pear but calms down when we just do veg.

Anyway just wondering if anyone lose has had a squealy baby and if you think it could be an itchy discomfort causing it. I know babies do try odd vocalisation around this age but this relly is excessive compared to other babies I know.

Oh and when I rubbed baby balm on her elbow today she cried...

Any further advice? Much appreciated!!!

My DD age 6 has severe eczema. You have my sympathy - it's tough isn't it? Have a look at this fabulous website www.eczema.org.
Everyone's eczema is slightly different - people have different triggers. For my DD her triggers are Dairy (cow's milk/butter and all products containing traces of milk), egg, housedustmite, tomatoes, strawberries and any red fruit or veg, also being overheated, sitting in direct sunlight for too long (long car journey's in hot weather, or sitting near a sunny window at home or school) and in winter having the heating over 18 degrees centigrade sets her off. I think grass pollen maybe a trigger also, but thankfully we live in a high rise flat so do not have a garden. It is not normal to squeal for two hours, I would definitely recommend a visit to G.P. to get a prescription emollient. My DD has Epaderm a very thick greasy emollient which is applied up to four times a day. It is not a cure but it helps keep the skin under control, providing we avoid all her triggers. Oh and cotton blankets/sheets are essential for bedding and wash them at 60 degrees C, synthetic fleece type blankets do not breathe and baby will overheat making the itch worse. Hope this helps. Good Luck.xx

My LO went through a screeching phase at 5/6 months. It was such a horrible noise.

Eczema doesn't make me want to squeal but I do notice mines worse when there's something else wrong with me, eg a cold. Could be something's hurting her?
