How to help my 6 week old teething boy

My son is teething at 6 weeks old. I know it seems impossibly early, but he is teething. I'm reluctant to give him medication as he is so young.

Could any of you offer advice as to ways I can ease his discomfort?

teething crystals are natural and have worked well for mine. not sure how you feel about them but a dummy might be useful as 6 weeks is to young to hold something in his own mouth.

I'd try the Nelsons teething granules or Boots own brand ones first as I believe they're homeopathic, but if that didn't make a difference I'd then try teething gel and then calpol.

Thank you. I tried giving him a dummy and he spat it out.. He's my first baby.. So I don't know much, how long will it take for them to erupt? He has 4 coming up.

I had no idea about amber, going to look it up..

Would he not be too young for teething gel/ cal pol?

Thanks!

There's stuff he can have from 1 month (called panadol here). My dr said it's never wrong to give it to reduce pain and discomfort, is there a reason you don't want to?

Hi OP I'd pop in to the pharmacy and ask the chemist as I'm sure there's something your LO can have. Thinking about it I think calpol may be from 8 weeks old.

My dd was an early teether too. I used anbasol which is a liquid applied to the gums, it was the only one the pharmacist could recommend.

I have a 16 week old here who has been teething since 10 weeks old. One corner of a canine tooth has come through and the bottom two are pretty close to erupting. I'd say OP that this could go on for a v long time!

Nelsons Teetha granules are like magic and - I have the packet here - seem to have no restriction on age. From memory Calgel and Dentinox are from 3 months - cant check as they are upstairs where DS is sleeping so i could be wron. Anbesol is good although IMO is pretty strong so I only wheel it out when the big guns are needed. Pharmacist told me it can be used at any age. I tend to give him a bit of Calgel on my finger if he's not in too much pain, or when it's bad give him Nelsons plus Anbesol. The best teether I have found is DSs thumb - as soon as he learned to chew his own thumb things got a lot easier!
