I'm watching this with interest...also looking for a kitchen - ideally a wooden one!

PogoBob · 29/07/2013 14:27

DD has had the Ikea one since around that age and still plays with it at 3.

It comes in two parts which can you can buy separately. Both parts together is about £90 but the bottom is less than £70 I seem to remember.

Santa bought his for our two last xmas...

I also searched for months trying to find a nice wooden kitchen that wasn't £200+!!

I'm really pleased with it. And so are the kids. Can't recommend it enough. Bargain.

Another vote for the ikea kitchen. Only costs £65 at the moment.

We have this one

Not wooden but very strong and durable. Comes with lots of accessories and has been very successful. Good size and much loved.
Look out for it on offer. We got it half price in one of their 'sales'

Flossie82 · 29/07/2013 14:33

We got the Ikea kitchen for DDs 2nd birthday. She loves it. Great value

Hobblethwaite · 29/07/2013 15:39

Ah I was looking at the ikea one but it looks a bit flimsy on the pictures. But i may have to investigate further now. The elc one looks great too though. Thanks ladies Smile

Defo not flimsy. I can't imagine anyone being upset with it.

The hob lights up!!!

RobinBedRest · 29/07/2013 19:50

I have the ikea one, very sturdy, but have to say the plastic ones esp little tikes are better liked.

happypotamus · 29/07/2013 20:14

Another recommendation for Ikea's kitchen. DD got it for her second birthday, and it isn't flimsy at all. It seems very sturdy as she bangs it about. She loves it and plays with it everyday.

Bakingtins · 29/07/2013 20:18

Look on ebay as well - we got a John Crane one similar to this secondhand, though it's a v reasonable price for the quality.

enormouse · 29/07/2013 20:19

Really glad to see positive reviews of the ikea kitchen. Planning on getting it for my DS.

BretonTop · 29/07/2013 20:34

My 2yr old ds loves his IKEA kitchen, and I love that it blends in with our kitchen/diner. It's very sturdy.

Don't make the mistake of buying the lovely looking China tea-set/plates or aluminium pans tho...the former chipped easily on our stone floor tiles, and the latter are REALLY BLOODY NOISY WHEN BASHED OR DROPPED Grin

droid400004 · 29/07/2013 20:43

we made our son a toy kitchen out of odds and ends of furniture, it came to about £20! Old bedside tables can be easily adapted and painted. I found loads of 'hacks' on the internet where other people had made toy kitchens and it gave me plenty of ideas. Plus we made it to fit into a recess in the wall, so it didn't get in the way.

redwellybluewelly · 29/07/2013 20:51

We bought an incredible wooden kitchen for DD1 last Christmas - its a HABA German one off Amazon.

She loves it and so does every child that comes to play here. Expensive but worth it. The one I really really wanted was only sold in the USA

RobinBedRest · 30/07/2013 10:56

The ikea kitchen is reduced at the moment too, only £45 for the base.

Hobblethwaite · 30/07/2013 16:35

Ikea kitchen it is. I'm off to get it tomorrow. Thank you everyone I'm sure she will love it. Smile

It says on the website to buy the microwave and utensils to compliment it and they seem to be on a bar? Also is it easy to assemble.

Smudge588 · 31/07/2013 06:44

I also made one out of old bedside cabinets. it was easy to do and matches the kitchen nicely!

BretonTop · 31/07/2013 08:31

My dh isn't particularly handy (IT geek) but think he enjoyed the evening before ds' s 2nd birthday assembling it. We got the microwave bit too. One minute ds could barely reach it, the next he'd shot up and now can use it.

Bloomin kids, do insist on keep growing Grin

Hope you're happy with your purchase!

BretonTop · 31/07/2013 08:36

I bought these utensils from Hawkins Bazaar for flipping £7 last Christmas, and they're great...even better at under £2!
