Early puberty? At 9?

ds1 is 9 and a half. He has always erred on the side of being hairy but I've noticed a definate darkening around his top lip in the past few months. He has recently experienced his first wet dream, he came to me all confused because he thought he'd wet the bed but couldn't understand why only the inside of pj's were wet.

His skin is also staring to change, looking oiler.

Does this sound like the start of puberty? I think I may be in denial as I don't want him to grow up so fast Sad

In all other ways he is very niave (sp) Only just stopped believing in father christmas

Any mums of boys/girls this age noticed any changes in their?

Im a primary teacher and there are definite signs of early puberty in 9 yr olds - mostly girls though. the girls in my class last year were definitely showing the emotional signs of pubescent girls - moody, bitchy, moody.. and some bigger girls developing wee breasts.

Nine is pretty early for boys - neither of mine showed any signs til about 13. I'm in the thick of it now with dd who, whilst she has yet started her periods, seems to have permanent PMT!

He's not that much bigger than the rest of the boys in his class but his dad didn't start to grow until he was about 12 and ended up at 6'5" so I am expecting to be dwarfed by him soon.

I know its something that I can't stop happening to him but it still make sme sad Sad

he's started to develop a bit of an attitude too, talks to me like I'm the most stupid person he's met sometimes, grrr. I know it's all part of growing up but still...

I am just glad that he's a boy though, really feel for you Saggarmakersbottomknocker. I can still recall my teemage days vividly and wouldn't wish me on anyone! Smile

I know, who am i trying to kid?

I'm half hoping he'll turn into one of those boys who just grunts then goes to their rooms as he can talk the hind leg off a donkey at the moment and i'm looking forward to the peace Smile

I'm on countdown now, ds2 due back at 12, he's like a whirlwind leaving a trail of destruction in his wake

Going to have a cup of tea and a biscuit before he's back. And eat the whole biscuit myself without having to share it with him!

And put my earplugs back in! Smile
