Is it possible for 1 year old to miss a parent?

Seems like a strange question lol! I'll explain.
My little man is almost 15 months olds. My husband is in the army. He gets home (sometime tonight) after being away for 6 weeks.
The last 3 weeks, my ds turned into an absolute nightmare! Tantrums, screaming to communicate, difficulty going down for a nap. If he finally goes down at night I cry!
I work full time, so he's with the childminder most of the time. He used to love going there, in the last week started screaming when I leave him.

I am so used to having such a good boy, who sleeps, who laughs all the time, i always get compliments on how great he is!

I was wondering if its possible the reason for him acting up is because he is missing his dad? They are extremely close!

My oh deploys later this year for 9 months and if this is a sign of what's to come... I dont know how I'm going to cope!

Very likely - babies form very strong attachments from about 8-9 months (I think, haven't studied child development recently).

I guess that there are two things going on for him - missing his dad and now being aware that people sometimes "disappear" so being very clingy for you in case you won't come back.

You might want to look in www.mumsnet.com/Talk/forces_sweethearts as people in similar circumstances may have advice.
