Complete toilet regression after 8 months

DS1 has been trained for 8 months, but over the last month or so he has begun to have accidents.

It started with maybe 2 accidents a day, but over the last 2 weeks he has been doing almost EVERY wee in his pants Hmm
He still does poo poos in the toilet though

I did have a baby, she is 5 months old now so there has been a bit of a change in the house, although even when he has my complete attention say if DD is asleep he will still do it

I've not shouted at him as I don't think this will help, I've tried stickers which he responds really well to and is really happy when he gets one for going to the toilet, but then will do his next wee in his pants Hmm

Please help me!!! My washing machine is on overload!!!

This is almost exactly the same as what happened with my DD2. She trained very easily shortly before she turned 2. I had DS 3 months later, I was expecting some regression around the time of his birth but she was totally fine. However when he was about 4 months old THEN she regressed (i.e. had been totally clean and dry for over 7 months). Opposite to your DS in that she remained totally fine with wees, but started doing all poos in her pants. It was just so odd and unexpected. Looking back I think it was around the time she really realised that he was here to stay! There was definitely an attention thing going on. I was going spare, I was exhausted and this seemed like the final straw. After a couple of weeks of trying to keep calm and go back to basics of sticker charts and rewards I decided enough was enough. Went and bought a large pack of pull ups and put her back into nappies (she was still able to pull down the pull up to do her wees in the potty). At the time it seemed like a huge step back and admission of defeat, but at least I was able to relax and draw breath. I also bought a lovely big bar of chocolate and put it on a high unreachable shelf above the loo. I told her that once she did a poo in the loo again she could have it, but then I didn't mention it again - just left the bar of choc in plain sight. After about 3 days in pull ups she did the poo in the loo, had the chocolate bar and never looked back. I really do think it was linked to attention and the baby. Once I completely ignored the situation, had her in pull ups so i didn't care and let her make her own decision (to get the chocolate) all was well.

Thank you so much!
I'm kind of glad it's wees and not poos!!

Over the last few days I've been taking him to the toilet every 15 minutes which he is getting annoyed with as I am taking him away from playing in the garden.

Today has been the best day so far, as in he had the same pair of shorts on for a whole 5 hours!

I will defiantly try the ignoring tactic!
I have some pull ups as he is still in those at night time

I don't think it's anything medical like a water infection ect I'm almost certain it's attention seeking - which makes me feel guilty that he would have to do that to get my attention Hmm

Dd1 had a regression and I was horrified. Then my friend with an older child described her dd's regression and I was a million times more stressed! (Doing poos behind curtains etc) and I worked myself in to hysteria. Then she just started going on the loo again and it was all over. The regression lasted about 3 weeks and seemed v affected my tiredness and also if she had one accident there would be lots more that day until bedtime it was never a one off. If she in between she had accident free days.
It just passed and apparently it's quite normal Grin
