My 6 year old dd is extremely happy, never had a bad thought in her head, extremely observent and truely sees beautiful things all around us that us more focused people dont notice. She is that poem ' what is this life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare.....'. She is currrently managing well at school - reads fluently, descriptive writer, even above average in maths. But her lovely teacher has allowed her to do things in her own time ( often a lot slower than every one else). I know practically this cannot continue and she will need to work at the speed of the others but havent a clue how to help. At home she just gets anxious if rushed too much and no matter what we try she gets it done in her own time.

I haven't got advice but wanted to offer reassurance. I used to be like your DD. very slow with school stuff and also eating. I grew out of both and sped up by age 12 (which is when you go to high school on the country I'm from). It was out of necessity that I started working faster, rather than someone helping or forcing, as I was getting bad marks through not being able to complete tests in the allocated time. So I basically trained myself out of it.

I hope someone else will give you some good advice. I feel for your DD though as she sounds absolutely lovely and I wish it wasn't an issue.
