Dry at night 3yr old refusing to sleep without pull-ups

My 3.10 year old is developmentally delayed - so not much speech, impossible to reason with, no concept of time or cause and effect, quite rigid in her bedtime routine and will become inconsolable if for example, her preferred pyjamas are in the wash or DS isn't in pyjamas for bed (the other night she screamed for twenty minutes because I tried to put DS to bed in a vest and nappy). She has been sleeping in a pull up since she potty trained in January, she didn't often wee in her sleep but got really really upset if she wet the bed. She hasn't wee'd in her pull up for over a month, so I really want to stop putting her to bed in them, but she blows a fuse if I try. We've been reusing them to save money, but they're a bit icky after a couple of nights, so ideally I'd like to stop using them at all. Any suggestions to ease the transition? I could just not give her one, and manhandle her into her pyjamas, but this will result in maniacal screaming and a very unsettled three year old. I don't really like upsetting her that much over something quite trivial but...

Hmmm - special big girl 'night-time' pants that she chooses from the shop with you?
'Pull-up fairy' modelled on dummy fairy strategy to help her say goodbye to that phase of her life?

Could you until you have sorted this out, just use nappies (not pull ups) as they are so much cheaper. I used to do this my DD, and just pre stick them and pretend they were pull ups.

What about washable nappies? You would only need a couple. Or those trainer pant things that have a towelling inner. Thing we had a couple from mothercare that weren't expensive when potty training.

Maybe you can try taking her shopping and let her choose her own 'night time' knickers/pants which would encourage her to wear something to bed but not actual pull ups.
She's still only young. A few aren't dry during the day at this age so it's great she's dry so long.

I actually use tesco everyday value range pull ups for my DS and can get 2 nights out of them (if they are dry obviously). No pattern on them but doesn't need to be really. Less than £2 a pack for 18.
I'm sure other supermarkets have their own cheaper versions if its cost that's the problem.

We have reusable trainer pants actually, but they're not pink so she's not keen. I might try and swap our Bright Bots for some pink training pants and see if she'll go for that. We cloth nappy already, so it wouldn't add anything to the washing particularly.

Being a thrifty individual I wondered about about a packet of pink dye? Grin
