Should I be concerned?

Hi all, This is my first post on here but I didn't know who else to ask because my problems just weird. I have two boys one aged 11 and the other just 2. My partner has recently adopted a full sized dachshund to give our own miniature dachshund some company. My partner assumes the older dog is about 6 months to a year old and my littlest lad adores it.

My little one began sleeping with the dog in its basket and following him around, even trying to help doggy up the stairs which is not a problem, as big dog is soft as a brush. What is worrying is the oldest dog's humping problem, big dog humps little dog and my youngest imitates this behavoir and humps little dog, and me whenever he gets the chance. I give him time out, take away his favourite toys, seperate him from the dog but nothing seems to work. The only other option is to send big dog to live with my parents down in Devon, which would break my heart.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

My ds also had large lumps on his neck, after a couple if blood tests it was confirmed as glandular fever. The lumps still come up when he is under the weather (7 yo)

Maybe taking toys etc from hi. I'd r a great idea as he won't understand why your punishing him- he sees the dog 'humping' and will think its an ok thing to copy.

Could you try diverting his attention when you catch him doing it again? Maybe that way he'll get bored?

Just an idea Smile

Thankyou :) He's going to start with a childminder next month as Im starting a new job. Hopefully sometime away from the dog will give him some other interests
