Have completely fucked up with getting Dd into a decent sleep pattern and can't see a way to change it...
She is nearly 2 (22 months), she's never slept much. Doesn't seem to need much sleep, can stay awake for 12 hours straight and still be relentlessly cheerful.
She has never been put to bed awake. I nurse her to sleep and then put her in her cot. She doesn't get tired enough to nurse to sleep until usually 10pm ish, I then put her in bed asleep and she sleeps till about 6am, then I feed her again and she either wakes for the day or she dozes back off till 8amish. She naps in the day every few days or so (doesn't need to every day, even if we are out and about in the car she stays awake)
I'm utterly fed up of having no evening to do anything, I go to bed not long after her! It doesn't help that she is very active and into everything all day. Just unloading the dishwasher with her around is a mission!
She has been awake since 7.30 am this morning, its now 8.20pm and she is sitting next to me watching tv and chattering away like she's just woken up!
If I try and put her into her cot awake (when she is tired and has been fed), she screams blue murder the second she is put in there. She tries to fling herself out the cot amd without fail will scream so much she is projectile sick within minutes, then is usually sick again over me when I pick her up to clean up.
I fear I've missed the sleep training window. How can I sleep train a baby that can somersault head first out of the cot?
But she also can't speak really (the odd word) and doesn't understand enough to tell her for example 'you lie here and I will be back in 5 mins', she would have no clue.
What can I do? The only thing I can think of is to ride it out until she is old enough for a bed and to understand a bit more to talk to her and tell her about being put to bed.
Any other ideas to save my sanity? I just don't quite know how this happened... I have older children who all sleep normally and have done from less than a year!!!
