Help! Ideas to stop my 2yr old sucking his fingers?

He has done it from a very early age but it is starting to affect his teeth. I asked a pharmacist about Stop n Grow or similar but he is too young for it.

I have tried putting a plaster over his finger but he pulled it off in disgust :-(

has your dentist actually said it's a problem for his teeth? my DD (3) also does this but dentist says it's ok do I don't worry about it too much but do try to restrict it to sleep times only. maybe allowing it at specific times but telling him to stop at others mighthelp. sorry, not really much use, sometimes I think a dummy would have been easier, at least you can just throw them away!

I tried him with a dummy but he never took to one. I am of the belief dummies are much better than fingers! His brother had a dummy and his teeth were not going crooked at this stage.

Dentist says it is affecting his teeth and must be stopped...we can see it as well

Short of bandaging fingers together I can't see ehat else to do :-(

My 3yo got a sore finger and immediately stopped sucking his fingers...

Problem was he switched to his thumb. Now he is a confirmed thumb sucker like his bro and sis. Trying to get the 5yo to give up is proving very difficult so if you get any tips, I'll be happy to try them myself!

I don't have any experience but you could try putting the clear, gross tasting nail polish which is supposed to stop nail biting. I'm explaining this really badly as I don't know the name of it. But you can buy it in supermarkets I believe (In the pharmacy section).
