DD has never been a massive lover of school, she isn't the type to work her socks off for top place in the teachers world, she loves to be outside, all the time.

She is bright enough, reads well and hits all the milestones.

Today she feigned illness to stay home, I work FT so had her grandmother babysit. At bedtime she started the 'I feel sick' thing again and after much talking ended up with her sobbing that she 'doesn't like school'.

At our school th mix the classes every year and she has never really settled this year (y1) and the group she was put with are lovely but had a lot of established friendships and 3 is a crowd.

She also has got 100% in spelling every week and I understand she is the only one which she is so upset about as she says it makes her feel 'left out' ... odd psychology that one but there you go.

She can hold grudges, struggles to accept and 'make-up' when other kids come back and say she can play which I know does her no favours.

Please please how can I help her ??

My youngest daughter struggled to be accepted by her peers and it broke my heart. Can you find one child she is vaguely friendly with and invite them to tea one day after school?

The psychology regarding her feeling left out is tricky - you want her to do well, but on the other hand, she doesn't like being singled out as being the best in the class. Maybe if you tell her how proud and pleased of her you are (I'm sure you do anyway) it will help her feel that it's a good thing?

The other thing to consider is, is she being bullied? Children can be horribly cruel.

Thank you for posting. I don't think she is being bullied, I think it's more the typical girls stuff of pairs are happy and 3s are a problem. The pair is stronger and will always win.

I did work really hard last term with play dates but will do so again, get some dates in the diary, it does help I know.

It is breaking my heart though, you just want them to be happy hey?
