Bedwetting/waterproof sheets

Have begun process of getting dd dry at night - she's 3.5 yrs and decided on Thursday that she didn't want to wear trainer pants again. Not too bad so far - two dry nights, three nights with one accident each (once not until 7 in the morning when she woke up and "was too tired to remember what to say"!).

The problem is protecting the mattress. I tried a waterproof undersheet and then a soft, waterproof backed topsheet from GLTC but in both cases they brought her out in an itchy rash all over her back. She has pretty sensitive skin and obviously needs to "breathe" at night. So I'm just using towels under the sheet at the moment but it does soak through and unless she trains pretty quickly the mattress is going to be horrible.

Does any know of a way of protecting the mattress that won't irritate her skin?

What about hose ampers mats?

try again
What about those Pampers mats?

Siloh health care do a good one. It's quite soft cover and holds 4 litres (!!). My son has sensitive skin and hasn't had a problem with the sheets and has been using them for about 6 momths now.

Shiloh is here look under products and then incontinence products.

If they address it to your child you can get it VAT exempt (at least that's what they did for me).

We used Pampers mats too - they were great - pricey but if its not every night that she has an accident it works out not too expensive - they won't irritate the skin, go under the sheet and have a plastic backing so nothing gets on the mattress - sort of like sleeping on a big thin nappy.

I got a soft waterproof backed fitted sheet from john lewis, but I put normal sheet on top of it. I haven't had any problems and my ds is a really sweaty sleeper.

La Redoute have great cotton waterproof sheets - whole bed size - can be washed at up to 90 (I think) and then tumble dried. They have elastic corners but those don't fit too well anyway so you could possibly cut a large one in half (though they are hemmed so might fray.) Or buy two as they are so tolerant of washing. Put one under a normal sheet.

Link is here - go to interieurs and put mattress covers in the search box.
