Something hand-like for baby to hold instead of my hand at night

Just that really. DD really likes holding hands to go to sleep which can take a while. She used to have a soft toy that she held but know she seems to realise that it is nothing like a hand and flings it away. Any ideas of toys that would do the trick but wouldn't be dangerous in a cot?

Thanks!

A glove stuffed with wadding then sewn up at the cuff? Or a slightly heavier, bean bag type soft toy in a smooth fabric?

My dd2 loves her Fisher Price lullaby seahorse which glows and plays 5 minutes of soothing music which fades out gradually. I always pop it on when she goes to bed and she falls asleep clutching it or just watching it glow.

How old? Because you might be better off riding it out or weaning her off as it might take time to get her used to another "hand" Grin I suspect she might notice the difference.

My sister's dd was like this and I really felt for her as it meant she was the only person who could ever put her down and she had to crouch by the side of the cot for a good half hour or so. My ds had a cot sheet to scrunch and sucked his thumb, dd didn't really have anything as she required to be jiggled instead (nightmare baby!)

Hope you find something that works for you - BedHog's suggestions sound worth trying.

Thanks for the suggestions. She is 7 months and now totally dependent on holding hands at night. A toy drumstick worked well but does that seems a bit dangerous to leave in a cot?

What about letting go just as she drifts off then work backwards from there?

A toy drum stick is obviously hard and she might roll on it and it'll wake her up.
