4yr olds behaviour driving me mad!!!

Hi, I am looking for some advice on my 4yr olds behaviour as I feel I am hitting a brick wall with it!! He is still in preschool for 15hrs a week and although at times he is hitting and being rude to children and teachers here it is nowhere near as much of a problem as it is at home!
He can be such a good lad at times but the majority of the time he is angry to the point of kicking and punching everything in sight. The slightest thing will trigger this such as touching the pause button on something he is watching on the iPad, along with this he is kicking spitting and lashing out at me and his dad I've something as simple as askin him to tidy his toys. I feel he is just uncontrollable especially when we are out in public and nothing we seem to be doin is working, he ha been diagnose with glue ear so we have been makin site he has heard what we have asked of him but this does not make any difference to his reaction! Please could someone give me some advice on how best to sort this problem as I do not know where to go next! :(

Is his speech delayed because of the glue ear? I'm just wondering if he is frustrated and can't communicate? Mine isn't so old but she did get frustrated before she started talking so I taught her to sign which really helped. I used a big blue ish coloured board book I got from Amazon. She picked it up quickly both understanding my signs and using some herself.

No his speech is absolutely fine and he doesn't stop talking lol so unfortunately I can't put it down to that.

Is he getting grommets for his glue ear? DS1 had this and there was a big difference in his behaviour after he had the op - consultant did tell us this would happen as, for them, it's like being underwater all the time.

No the dr said as he doesn't suffer with ear infections the. They wouldn't carry out the op, I think it may be worth while getting a 2nd opinion from another dr as he will be starting school in September and I would hate for this to effect his learning.

Oh dear - has he had to test to see what levels his hearing are at? We were fortunate to have private healthcare and the op was done within a week of diagnosis. I would definitely look into it further. Hope you get everything sorted soon.

Thanks, have been back to dr and he will be getting a hearing test at the hospital however because of cut backs its real hard now adays to get referral even to the ear nose and throat specialists let alone for an operation! Fingers crossed we get somewhere tho :)
