What do I do?? I bollocked her and sent her to her room. I have a massive bleeding bite mark through my jeans. I cannot believe she has done this :(

Put a cold pack or ice on the bite.

Why did she bite you? Was it mid tantrum? At 5 she must know what she did is wrong so I would leave her in her room for as long as possible. Hopefully you can then both talk about it calmly.

Was it a one off? or does she bite as a means of getting her own way?

what caused it?

she needs to know that actions have consequences

if she is having problems with discipline i would look at some kind of reward chart....but bad behaviour needs addressing with a consequence that she can understand but that isnt totally over the top.

It was mid-tantrum, yes. I was attempting to cart her off to her room for screaming at me. I reached down to get her and she sank her teeth into my bloody leg. I then took her to her room and I have to admit I absolutely BELLOWED at her. She said sorry and I said she would lose various privileges till the end f the week as biting me was so serious. Bloody hell. Right now I feel like she needs professional help or something. An NT child of 5 should not be biting, surely? If I had bitten my mum, I would have had my arse smacked into next week!

At 5 I think they can still loose control of themselves in a tantrum. My DD would possibly still bite if she was cross enough and part of me was in front of her face.

Nothing wrong with shouting at her. She is old enough to understand that you will react when hurt.
