Im reading articles about toddlers with 70 words!
Dc has started to put 2 words together like bye bye mummy. Understanding is very good, I don't think any Problem with nears I can call get from another room. Friend came with her dc yesterday same age vocabulary and pronunciation was very good. I think my dv would lime to say more like swings and slide but can't pronounce. Anyone any guidance for me?

My DS was similar at that age - I could say to him "go and find your blue car" or whatever and he would do it, but his verbal skills were poor and he only had a handful of words that other people could understand - although quite a lot which I knew what he meant! He's now 26 months and his language developed all of a sudden, he now rivals the children I was comparing him to a few months ago and I have no concerns. Do you have a 2 year check with the health visitor in your area? Language is one of the things checked at this.

my little boy's quite similar. hes now 20 months and his comprehension is fine but doesnt say much (other than commands and complaints...). but when i go to pick him up from nursery i get reports of him counting 8 cups (obviously poor pronounciation but clearly counting), something which i thought i was imagining when i had seen (FINALLY evidence that my child is a genius hahaha). every child has strengths and weaknesses; if language isnt your childs forte i would seriously doubt there is anything to worry about unless (s)hes struggling with other things too. sounds completely normal. like rockchick says, speech often seems to click very suddenly.
