advice on crazy baby hair please

My 16wk old dd has thick, long hair which sticks up on top and is almost in her eyes. Should i take her to a hairdressers?? any suggestions welcome TIA

it might be less stressful for you to get a mobile hairdresser round to your house
That's what we did with ds although he dodn't have his first hair cut until about 18 months

yes why not? go and get a little trim just to get it out of her eyes.and don't forget to keep a lock as a keepsake!

Both my dd's had and have long hair. I just trimmed their fringe as soon asit was in their eyes. I think you'll just have to wait for the top to grow more before the spikiness goes

i knew people would think i'm being thick my dh says i should put gel in it and some (older) people have said don't cut it because it won't grow back/ it's bad luck... just wanted to check no-one had any bad experiences

Being the mum of DS with very mad hair had to click on this!
I would just give it a trim yourself, if you think it's bothering her. Personally, if it's bothering you more than her, I would just leave it.
My Ds has blond curly hair which grows out at the front and whn it gets long looks like an elvis quiff - I constantly have comments on it, such as he ought to have been a girl (!) and he looks like he's got a birds nest on his head!! I just ignore it, I think he looks great!

Friend of mine just used to get a soft bobble and tie it up on the top of her little girl's head - looked ever so cute!

both my children have had loads of hair!
Dd is on members profiles at the mo, it was her 2nd birthday at the weekend, her hair is really long.
I wouldnt cut it unless you want her to have a fringe when shes bigger.
I really didnt want my Dd to have a fringe, so she was wearing it clipped to one side from about 6 weeks old! Just tie it up, i agree it does look very cute.

thanks izzybiz - never thought of the fringe thing.
and Mabel- I think we can wait a bit longer cos it's not actually bothering her just looks funny.

i knew there was a reason i felt the need to ask before cutting it

My DD has long curly hair and I also do not want to cut a fringe into it. However, she refuses to wear a bobble, clip or hairband, except, of course, for her childminder, for whom she is the perfect child. (Sorry, little bitter aside!)

If I ever have another DD I will put them into her hair from birth, even if she doesnt need it!

mmm, worth thinking about - thanks for that. I'm assuming it's not suitable to put a slide in her fringe, I'll have to look for some soft small bands. Where's good to look for these? (I'm hopeless with girly things)

Claire's accessories would probably sell them - I think you can get little packets of things like that (and good training for when you want to buy fairy wands, totu's, pink feather boas etc!)
