What to do? Ignore, punish? Tried both and he still is so silly. Know lots of children go through it but its driving me mad! He also has a stroppy teenager attitude. At my wits end and fed up. Please tell me it is not just mine, for what its worth he's good at school.

We sing:

'Poo in your face... Poo in your ear... Poo in your face, poo in your ear, poo in your eye!' to DSS.

He thinks it's hilarious. DH told him a story about a poo monster coming out of the loo last night.

They'll grow out of it, I'm sure.

It can't be as embarrassing as him shouting 'PENIS!' at the bus stop aged 2.5...

olivertheoctopus · 13/04/2013 21:47

Urgh, we're in 4yo wee and poo central these days too. Hoping it will pass...

DeWe · 13/04/2013 21:57

I wrote on ds' reception form medical questionaire in answer to the question "Does he make friends easily?"
"Ds makes friends of all ages as long as they are happy to roll round on the floor shouting "poo" at intervals..."

I have been assured that they grow out of it, however I do look at bil (in his 40s) and wonder sometimes-he still thinks this is terribly funny Hmm

ChasingStaplers · 13/04/2013 22:04

I am a rubbish parent because I laugh along with it (DD is 4 and DS1 is 2) when we're at home, although I have explained this humour is best kept at home.

Currently the cbeebies bedtime song is 'goodbye bum, hello poo'. I think it's quite clever the way they interchange the words and get them to fit in.

DS1 likes to refer to toilets and toilet brushes rather than poo.

His sister's the poo-enthusiast.

cathpip · 13/04/2013 22:20

I used to nanny for four boys and they could not go a whole sentence without mentioning the words wee or poo, my son (4) is the same. He finds it mightily funny teaching his little sister these words aswell, I ignore, the novelty does wear off - eventually!

MeAndMyLittleMan · 13/04/2013 22:55

I have that problem with myu son. At first I stopped it, then whenever he talks to his dad on the phone he encourages it and now he won't stop talking about poo. The thing that annooys me is whenever his dad is down he tells him off for it and I'm just left there thinking wtf? Grrrr! Although I have heard a lot of other mothers saying their boys find poo absolutely amusing so I can't be too upset lol

louisianablue2000 · 14/04/2013 23:20

Hmmm. the DDs spent most of tea singing the following to 'solid, liquid, gas' by They Might Be Giants

Poo, pee, farts

Poo is a solid
Pee is a liquid
Farts are gas

ballroomblitz · 15/04/2013 00:32

I occassionally drop in a poo joke to ds (5). It's always guaranteed to get a filthy laugh out of him and between his laugh and him being so predictable yet shocked that I've come out with it cracks me up too.

MrsSham · 15/04/2013 00:47

Normal and funny yes, though as they get older its not too difficult to enforce no toilet talk at certain appropriate points or certain company. My dd 7 and still loves a good winkies, boobies, wee wee and poo poo joke. But she tends to know when its funny or not.

BrittaPie · 15/04/2013 01:14

my 3.5yo DD2 likes to stand up, pull her trousers down and shout "LOOK AT MY FANNY!" to any passers by. Blush

She also thinks poo and wee are hilarious, likes to randomly ask me if I have pumped (again, loudly) and so on. Nightmare!

BrittaPie · 15/04/2013 01:14

Louisiana - We get the EXACT SAME SONG.

Sigh.

nappydaysagain · 17/04/2013 16:24

I have 3 DSs (11, 9 and 2yrs 11 months). DS3 already replaces words in songs with poo and I thought I'd at least have another year before it all started again (following my experiences with the older 2).

I want to give you a little hope and tell you that DSs 1 & 2 have grown out of it. BUT last night all 3 were in hysterics when I read DS3 Stickman for bedtime story when the word 'pooh stick' was read!! The older 2 because of DS3s reaction.

exoticfruits · 17/04/2013 16:38

It is a phase - ignore

Shellywelly1973 · 17/04/2013 16:51

My Ds4 is just like all the boys described in the thread!

But I've also got a 8 yr old Ds. Ds is autistic. Socially. & emotionally about 3. So i have two of them singing, shouting & incessantly talking about poo, bums & willies.

Im in my 4th week of Easter holidays & feel like Im going mad...at least this thread made me laugh& i don't feel so alone in my madness!
