Nighttime lifting advice

We have DS 5 years who has been potty trained day and night since he was 3.10months. However about a year ago he started wetting himself during the night so we took the path of lifting him about 11pm when we went to bed - I know the various debates out there concerning lifting but was happy to do it. Now he's at school etc and its the Easter holidays I'm thinking now may be a good time to get him out of the habit. He's in bed for 7pm and has a wee beforehand, another about 11pm then is usually awake at 6am and has another. He's always been an early riser so I'm not 100% convinced he's waking at that time because he needs the toilet. Should I restrict water after 5pm and leave him in bed and see what happens?

Sounds like a plan

Sounds good. I would also suggest that you stick to water (no juice or squash) from lunch time.

You might want to give it a couple of nights even if he has an accident or two, it can take a tiny bit of time to readjust and to get in the habit of waking and getting up himself if he needs to. Also, although he is way beyond potties, if you still have it around you might want to put it in his room next to his bed for the first couple of weeks so he can easily get up and use it. My DD2 was night trained from v little, but when we moved house she started wetting the bed, so we lifted her for a bit and then when we wanted to stop that I put a potty in her room next to her bed for a few months and she found that easier even though she was 5 and well beyond potties in the day time. It also helped with early mornings as she would use the potty at 6am or whenever and then hop back into bed but if she was up and wandering around the house to the bathroom she'd usually keep on wandering into our bedroom!

Also, you might just be surprised and find there are no issues at all. When DS first night trained we always lifted him as he had had occasional night accidents, after about a year we thought we'd give it a go without lifting him and he never had a single accident, clearly whatever the hormonal control is that is needed had developed during the period we were lifting him and he was ready, but you don't know until you try.
