I can't get search archived messages to work (just brings back EVERY discussion...), can someone explain exactly what you do for the pasta jar rewards system? please? :)

Worked for DSs from 5 and 3.

Thing is you have to keep at it and don't forget to exchange it for rewards at the end of the week. We've slipped with ours (keep forgetting!) so I'm going to "relaunch" it.

Might make it a little more complicated so they get a white piece of pasta for good and a red piece for bad. Good - bad = reward. This means that when I've already taken away all their pasta, I can still punish them : -ve pasta = they give me money out of their money box.

Take one jar, put, say, 5 pieces of pasta in it. Your child can earn extra bits or have them taken awawy and (in our house) after a week the pasta is exchanged for 10p per piece and then the jars reset at 5 pieces.

I'll let you into a secret - I googled

I use an ice cube tray with a segment of pasta in each compartment (12 pieces) and add or take away depending on behaviour.
I have used star charts and other things in the past but my dd responds really well to pasta (although she won't eat it !)
I agree with iota just the mention of pasta changes behaviour for the better (usually)

I have used them in school and do a count up at the end of each day.... Doesn't have to be a week.
