I gave my daughters teacher a pound this morning to buy a red nose at school and she came out of school without one so asked her why and she said the teacher has it so i went into the school to find out why and teacher said daughter has been naughty today but instead of just one punishment she has had a talking to off the headteacher, has been given lines to write out, has been told she is not allowed in the park tomorrow afternoon and has had her red nose taken off her which i bloody paid for bloody fuming right now! Does anyone else think this is excessive or is it just me?

How old is she and what did she do?
It does sound a lot but perhaps they were accumulated over an afternoon
Eg if you don't stop doing x we'll take your red nose off you, followed by if you continue to do y, then you'll miss your park time etc etc.
It does sound harsh but that does depend on what she was doing.

She is 6, the teacher didnt tell me what she had done she told my daughter that she had to tell me when we got home (i dont see why though as she was stood right in front of me and could have told me herself)

Oh no I would not accept that at all! But having said that...what was the "being naughty"?

What did she do to warrant a meeting with the HT and lines at 6!

MrsMushroom · 12/03/2013 17:22

Well did DD tell you what it was?

Emz8369 · 12/03/2013 17:31

According to daughter she was putting her slippers on while the teacher was taking registration and was playing around with her red nose while she was supposed to be listening to the teacher but im going to go in tomorrow to ask the teacher as well

Well it seems very severe for "normal" 6 year old inattention! In DDs school the only child I have heard of going to the HT swore badly at another child...I would definitely make sure that teacher knows you're unhappy with the nose being removed.

She could have taken it and returned it at the end of the day imo.

Sounds complete nonsense to me - why on earth wouldn't the teacher tell you what your dd had done? At the age of 6 I think all that is way too harsh, and if they took her red nose off her because she was playing with it they should have given it back to her at the end of the day or given it directly to you, with a "she wasn't allowed to have it as she kept playing with it" explanation. Lines, and not allowed in the park when she is only 6 is just mean, and if they were better at discipline they wouldn't feel the need to give such extreme punishments to small children. I would make it known that you're not happy.

I will be making it well known mummy2benji i feel it is wholly unfair but dont think i have gained the full story from my daughter so will be having a word with her teacher at some point today
