What do you do with DC whilst you're in the shower?

I have a 3 yo DS- is he old enough to play by himself while I have a super quick shower?

According to my DS- no. Seeing as he climbed on top of the kitchen counter this morning, and grabbed and then tipped out an entire bag of sugar all over the playroom and kitchen.

I just can't relax whilst I'm having a shower... what do you do?

I close the stairgates so mine can't get in the kitchen

I take my DD 2.8yrs upstairs with me, shut stairgate and she is told she can only go in her bedroom, the bathroom and her brothers bedroom Smile

Younger here, but the bathroom is childproofed and has some toys in it so 13mo just comes in when I or DP shower if she's awake at the same time as us. At the moment I get us both up, warm up her milk quickly, and then she drinks her morning bottle while I shower, which works quite well. I'm hoping this just becomes normal routine and she stays in with us until she is old enough to watch telly or something for those 5 minutes.

Handing them the iPad or a phone does tend work well though!

I'm so glad someone asked this! When DS was born I tried to nip in before he woke, but he'd usually end up waking and screaming with hunger, so I couldn't exactly relax. Now he's 19 months and has a set bedtime and DH puts him to bed while I shower. I try to look out my clothes for the next day so mornings are less frantic. I do wish I could shower in the morning but it just doesn't work. We are hoping to have another one so who knows how I'll manage with 2!

Ds 14m plays in his travel cot (in our bedroom - shower room is tiny ensuite) while I shower, and has done since he outgrew his bouncy chair (I keep the bathroom door and sometimes shower screen open, so i can hear him). If our bedroom is fairly tidy childproofed then I just close our bedroom door and let him roam, again with the shower and bathroom doors open so I can hear him/poke my head round the door if suspiciously silent. I hadn't thought about taking him in with me although that might work - he is obsessed with the shower cubicle and spends much of each day trying to climb inside it!
