Nap regression at 18 months?

Hi folks,
DS is 18 months and we were in a nice routine of a 75 min nap at around 1pm. Now, when I put him down he wakes up screaming after about 30 minutes. He's inconsolable, barely awake, won't be put down, won't be held, doesn't want his comforter, or a drink or nurofen. He is just screaming. I've tried a bit of CC but its clear that he can't put himself back to sleep and won't be helped back to sleep so he gets up-I know he's still tired!!!
Is this a normal phase at this age? He's been doing it for about a week now....Shock

Both of mine stopped napping around this age despite every effort on my part. Occasionally they dropped off in a pushchair or in the car but they never slept regularly again.

I used to curse mothers who had children who still needed naps in Reception whilst my two ran around with seemingly endless energy. In the end I just drank more coffee.

I have heard of some children going back to regular naps after a month or so (just to give you some hope) and my two compensated for not sleeping during the day by going to bed earlier and getting up later which was definitely appreciated!

My dd dropped her nap at 18months.

But she now goes to bed at 6pm and gets up at 8am

Phase in our house! Horrible one, nap fighting, bedtime resistance, early wakings etc etc. Lasted a good few weeks but was probably prolonged because i meddled - tried cutting his nap to 1hr to make him settle at bedtime & it backfired & he got overtired. Eventually he went back to having a lovely long nap of 2-2.5hrs & is still doing this approx half the week at 2.5.

I'd say wait it out & he'll probably start napping again. It doesnt really sound like he is resisting the nap or trying to drop it, tbh it sounds more the opposite & that he's not gettobg enough if he's waking so upset. For us, 30 min naps were always a sign of being overtired.

Has anything else changed eg fighting bedtime/waking early/illness that may have caused him to get a bit OT?

Our DD often drops her nap now (20mo), and she now sleeps from 9pm to 6am.... It's not great for having some peace, but she's fun when she's awake.
