Hi all

DD's just turned two and is a proper little chatter box. Her vocab and diction is generally really good but the only thing she hasn't got yet is the 'th' sound. She'll still say le and lat instead of the and that. TBH, it's very cute and so we haven't encouraged her to really try to pronounce 'th'. Bad parents.

Should we be doing so? And if yes, how? Is it just a case of getting her to copy sticking her tongue out and making the sound or are there any little rhymes to help her?

Thanks/lanks. xx

Don't do anything with her or make her practice anything.

Just say the words correctly yourself -
If she says
'On le table'
You say
'yes.its on the table'

and if you are concerned the ask to see a speech therapist.

But don't start correcting her or making her practice anything. You are far more likely to cause problems, make her anxious and make things worse than you are to help.

Thanks Pagwatch - that's what we've been doing. Her speech is so good otherwise that we don't want to discourage her or knock her confidence, IYSWIM.

That's great Smile

There are a couple of speech experts on here (moondog for example) so they may be able to give you better advice.
You could maybe get "speech problem" added in to your title to get more replies.
I didn't really realise that this was speech until I opened it (although I am a bit thick)
