my son is on neocate active and im trying to work out if this milk can cause bad behaviour, my son is 2yrs5months and his behaviour is awful! we have seen our health visitor for advice and see to have hit a brick wall. he also doesnt sleep very well or eat very much, im lucky if i manage to get him to eat a full meal in about 5 days :s hes not a big sweet eater either so he isnt filling up on them. thanks in advance xx

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. I haven't got any experience but assume if he's on this its on the recommendation of a Paed, would the secretary be able to help or could you ask for another appointment?

It might not be anything to do with the neocate though, children often start playing up at this age, hence the terms terrible twos and threeager Smile. Have a look at this book, it should help with his behaviour.

Also being fussy or not eating much can be normal too [smike]

The child I look after is 18mo and has been on neocate active for 10 months now, I don't know that it contributes to poor behaviour but I agree that his sleeping is bad and he does not always eat well at mealtimes.

I think perhaps the lack of sleep is more likely to cause bad behaviour as if anything like mine then he's just constantly over tired so feels quite out of control.

Have you any idea how long you might need to keep using this formula?

My DS was on Neocate LCP since 9 weeks old and since he turned 12 months has been on Neocate Active. I don't think you can link the behaviour to the milk in my opinion anyway but I am by no means an expert! My DS sleeps 12- 13 hours a night, eats absolutely loads and has no behavioural difficulties whatsoever. It seems a huge stretch to link behaviour to the milk since it's widely used for intollerances and doesn't seem to have any negative research attached to it. I think all 2 year olds are pretty much hard work regardless of milk.

Does he eat fresh fruits and veg? I know you say he's not a good eater but does he eat a lot of processed foods? Not pointing the finger or judging you, I know with my other DS the food he would actually eat was so limited that I'd have let him eat anything just to see him actually eat!

What time is he going to bed and how often is he waking?

Also, how much does he have a day? The NHS guidelines for cows milk are 300 mls a day between 12 and 24 months but there doesn't seem to be a minimum amount recommended after 24 months.

I'm assuming though that he's on neonate due to allergies and intolerances, is limited in what he can eat so everything will be different and has regular reviews anyway.
