Waking and talking at night - why suddenly started?

DD is 2.6yrs, she has a speech delay but we are seeing a very patient therapist who we see privately because the NHS ones were just not doing anything. DD also isn't a great sleeper, never has been but we make slow progress from 8 waking a night sobbing hysterically until she came in with us to 1-2 wakings resettling in her cot in her room until early hours when she comes in with us now. We are fine with this, its usually because she is cold and we're happy she will grow out of it.

Anyway, Sunday night DH went in to settle her but rather than being sleepy and settling she was absolutely bolt upright talking "Hiya Daddy, Hiya, Bear Daddy, kiss Bear, oh and baby daddy, look bear and baby daddy" to the point where DH brought her through to me to ask what in earth to do with her! Same last night.

Normal? We had this before she learnt to roll, and stand in cot etc but she doesn't speak that clearly or that much during the day! Its bizarre to hear her having these monologues at 1am, but awake for 2 hours a night is pretty hard on us all! Any advice would be great

Hi I don't have an answer as such, I came to find one for my self. But I'm sure I've read that maybe the fact that when little ones reach milestones they often wake more at night for a while. And it seems that yours is making a progress albeit at night so maybe that's what it's keeping her and you up. Good luck!
