Trying to gently teach dd right from wrong. But she repeats everything!!!

I try to parent in a gentle way. A small number of days out of every month I find it tricky. Probably why I am due a period! And tired from feeding dd2 in the night!

I feel like when I try to tell her something she doesn't listen, which I end up repeating and end up raising my one. I don't want to keep shouting as all she does is copy me.

So the past four days have been filled with tantrums and tears on both parts Hmm

How old is she? Sometimes with discipline and learning right from wrong it just takes perseverence and you have to keep repeating the same things over and over. Even if little ones don't appear to listen, you have to stick to your guns and trust that they'll get it in due course. I agree it is frustrating when the message doesn't go in earlier, but it doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. When she is driving you nuts try to take a moment to go and make a cup of tea, or go to the bathroom, or anything just to take two minutes out. It is hard to stay calm when you feel the anger and frustration bubbling up, and removing yourself from the situation for a few minutes can help prevent you and little one shouting at each other.

She was two in October. Obviously she is still small but it's the small things like not listening. I ask her to do something about four times in a calm voice, then it results in me shouting at her. Then feeling bad.

Like just now. I asked her to bring dd2s toy as I need to clean it, I was sat trying to get dd2 to sleep. And she just ignores me. Then ran away with it with a menace face on her. Then I shout and she throws a fit. I just don't know what else to try other than calmly asking. But then she just doesn't want to listen half the time.

Ds is 4 and helpful with regard bringing me things when asked, but he certainly wasn't when he was under 3. I think repeated instructions are necessary, sometimes to the point of picking up said item yourself and giving it to her to give to you! It doesn't make things easier for you in the short term but it will help get the point across to her gradually.
