Waking hourly during night

My 2 week old baby boy has been sleeping with the ever changing pattern I expect from a newborn, 3 hours here, two there, but last night he woke every hour for a feed!! He sleeps really well in the day, and we gave him a relaxing bath before bed. Is it normal to have nights like this with such frequent waking?

Was normal for us. Think the first growth spurt starts around 3ish weeks so he may well be getting your milk supply up.

yes ds was the same, even when i introduced a bottle at 8 wks no change

Glad to hear its normal. He's also started getting really irritable from around 5pm onwards, and is literally feeding from me constantly until we put him down at around 9/10pm. He doesn't seem to happy unless he's on the boob. Hopefully from what you say he is getting my milk production up ready for some lengthier night sleep!

first growth spurt is around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less) from Kellymom

Drink loads of water (think I did a pint a feed or more), eat cake, rest when you can, cluster feeding is normal and feeding a lot at night is also normal - due to the hormone prolactin being boosted at night. I'm due in June with dc2 and DH and I were discussing tonight what dinners we'd cook which I could eat with just a fork!

He seemed a bit better last night and has slept most of the day today. Suppose it's all part of the fun of it and I'm starting to expect that every day will be different! Thanks for your replies, they've been really reassuring x
