Bedwetting - advice needed

My almost 4yo has wet the bed the 5 nights out of the past 7
Came out of nappies in daytime and nighttime just over a year ago, his choice and he never had any accidents apart from the odd ones at birthday parties where he was too excited.
His bedtime is 7.30, his last drink tonight was around 6pm(small drink) and he went to toilet before bed
He's got a bit of a cold, could it be down to that?

It could be. But 3yrs old is young to be dry all night. I think Dr's don't consider it an issue to look into until a child is 7yrs old.

Does he wake in the night to wee?

With DS1 we used to do something very frowned upon and lift him to the loo when he was little when we went to bed. He then started to get up and go himself.

I agree, 3 yrs is very young. My DS was only dry at night this summer, after he turned 5.

I wrote a long reply last night but forget to post it!
If he's had a lot to drink n the evening I will wake him before I go to bed to go to toilet but more often than not he will wake and go to the toilet on his own
I agree that 3 is young but it's out of character for him as he's been dry in the nights for a year now

Given that it is 5 nights out of 7 rather than an odd incident now and then, clearly SOMETHING is happening. Working out whether it is emotional or physical is the difficulty.

Emotional - is there a new situation? A change in friends, teachers, environment, routine? He could also be on a learning curve - my DS1 tends to have learning progression that goes in steps so he plateaus for a bit that rapidly learns, plateaus, rapidly learns etc. In the 'learning' phases he has more accidents, is tireder, will actually have more bruises etc because he can fall over more. Especially as you say he will wake to go to the loo himself, if he is that much more tired he won't be as able to wake up to get to the loo in time.

Physical - He could be suffering a growth spurt which will tire him out more. He could have hurt himself, could have a cold/mild illness that doesn't have any other obvious symptoms. Mild constipation can mean he has less bladder room and more likely to have an accident so has he had different bowel movement pattern, different foods or drinks introduced to his diet?

These are just some things to look for. However, as others have said, he is young to have been consistently dry for so long, and there is always a possibility of some accidents for a few more years.
