Newborn naps and toddler time

Hi I'm totally new to Mumsnet and posting on websites. I'm looking for advice/help/reassurance. I have an 8wk old DD and 28 month DS. DD is pretty good at night, self soothes to sleep and sleeps in her cot. However, for naps she is the total opposite and will not sleep in the cot, therefore I use a sling. This is great in some respects but it would just really help not to have the sling once, so i could have one on one time with my 'spirited' easily bored DS, who is still unsettled about the new baby and changes to the amount of mummy attention. Realise having good nights is a huge plus, particularly as DS still doesn't sleep through at nearly 2.5, and is often up more than DD. Keep thinking the nap issue is totally normal, and just go with it but have this nagging doubt creeping in saying 'she will never nap in the cot' especially as she also cries in the pram and car seat unless moving (long distance family advise im 'spoiling her' and should learn lesson from rubbish sleeping DS -know this is crap by the way!!!) Would absolutely love to hear some words of wisdom from any other mums about this napping puzzle.

8 weeks old is pretty young so a good chance this will sort itself out and whatever you do,you are not "spoiling "her, too early IMO to establish bad habits.Do you go out and about with a pushchair or double buggy?I think when DC2 was this age they fell asleep whilst we were out for a walk or I would put the pram in the hallway and rock then to sleep. Then leaves you free to do something with your DS.

Interested in this one myself as my DS (13 weeks) sleeps brilliantly at night but refuses to nap unless in car / buggy moving or being held, grrrrrrrrr. X

Ditto. Mine is 7 weeks suddenly decided not to nap in morning or evening. However hubbies can easily get him to nap but I try same method and,is does not work. Usually it takes so long he starts, crying for his next feed so feed then he will sleep but by that time it's 6pm and no longer a daytime nap. I don't want to get into bad, habits by having to rock or walk to sleep.
