My ds is 9mo and only has 1 bf per day, first feed in the morning. I don't want to give this one up, yet, especially as I'm back at work in a week's time and he's at nursery and I think it will be comforting (for us both!). But over the last week or so, he's started having a little nibble and as he's got two teeth it REALLY hurts. It started on one side only and I thought it might be because that the side he lies when he's bottle fed and he sometimes pulls the bottle to twang it off his teeth. But this morning he had a go at both. I pinched his nose to get him to let go, and finished the feed each time. Anything else I can try?

Tell hime not to do as it hurts you. That usually does the trick - use an appropriate tone of voice or yelling ouch!!!! That did the trick with ds - he never did it again.

say no very firmly and clearly and end the feed, if he hasn't had enough put him back on ten mins later but from what i've heard they only do this at the end of the feed so there shouln't be any need to. worked for my dd when she tried biting at around the same age

i'VE HEARD OF PUSHING THE HEAD GENTLY INTO THE BREAST. tHIS WILL MAKE HIM OPEN HIS MOUTH FOR BREATH AND LET GO OF THE NIPPLE. Sorry for the caps.

Thanks. Will try the having a rest and putting him back on. As it's the first feed after 12 hours of nothing, I don't think he can be finished so quickley. But maybe he just does like a bit of a snack before breakfast!

Crossed post! Will try the pushing in, kinder than a nose pinch (albeit a gentle one)
