How quickly should Ds feet be growing?

My 25 month old DS has always had tiny feet. And although he's gone up a couple of half sizes, his feet are still tiny.

We bought the current shoes in Sept/October I think - this past week it's like his foot has got wider but not necessarily longer - there's still space at the end of his shoe, even though more difficult to get on.

Should his feet be growing more quickly and is it a concern if they're not?

DS1 has small feet. From memory, he was a 3 at 18months, a 6 at 4 and a 1 now he is 10. So generally he grew about a size a year.

DS stayed the same size for a year. He now generally grows half a size in 6 months. He does have tiny feet though he is 4y7m and only wears an 8.5

My DD has always had pretty tiny feet - she's 24 month.. they don't seem to have grown much in the last 6 months at all.

DD was measured at Christmas as I was convinced her shoes were too small, however, they told me they weren't.. She's got really chubby feet too so I felt like you that they had perhaps got wider and did get a pair a half size bigger.

She's a 5 (or 5.5) by the way. What size is he?

He's only a size 3.5/4 - at 25 months. Weeny!

Bookmark this thread and come back to it when you are buying new school shoes every three months at 10yo.

Honestly, there are lots of things that parents should consider losing sleep over. Foot size is possibly not top of the list.

Of mine, we have had no growth at all for several years, then huge spurt and lots of brand new shoes having to be chucked, then back to nothing for another year or two.

one of my DDs had tiny, slow-growing feet - at one point she had the same shoes for 18 months, from age 4-ish to 5-ish (she's 30 now so the details are hazy Grin)

those shoes were a 6 or 7 iirc; they were a bit big when I bought them

her first shoes, at 15 months, were a 2!

do not worry. just think of all the money you'll save!

Thanks Madwoman - that's very true.

My two (aged 5 and nearly 3) haven't changed shoe size for a year. My 5 year old is furious because she wants new shoes and I keep telling her there is no point (she has plenty of pairs to choose from so I am not being mean).
