6mo sleep noises!

Posted this in sleep but had no replies.......My 6 mo DD was having a really good sleep phase until a few nights ago. For the past few nights she will drop off easily around 7pm then wake around 40mins to an hour later. She's easily settled with boob but then she has started waking again about 10 mins later. Thing is, I'm not sure if she is actually awake, her eyes are closed and she makes an "eh ehhhhhh, ehhhhhh" sound, quite loud. I have been picking her up and rocking her back to sleep but can anyone tell me if this is actual waking or should I be leaving her to settle herself? In general she is showing signs of teething and so I am not sure whether to start being more proactive about teaching her to self settle now or whether I should wait a while. Any thoughts gratefully received!

DS has been doing that lately, he's 9 months and also teething. It sounds to me like he's having nightmares. We've been trying to just soothe him, and if he gets more agitated then we wake him for a bit.

No idea if it's the right thing to do or not though?

My DD (22 months) has done this since she was small. I've always just described it as her 'grizzling' in her sleep. She's not awake, and she's not (or doesn't appear to be) distressed. She's just vocal!
But then, i've been told that i can be quite noisy in my sleep too, so it's not that unusual.

Sometimes i just leave her to it when she makes the noise as she tends to stop after a couple of minutes, but if it goes on for longer then i'll go in and just whisper a shush-ing noise and she seems to resettle.
Picking her up and rocking her never did her any good in her early months, as i just disturbed her even more, as she wasn't fully awake to start with.

Thanks both of you, I think I might try leaving her or settling without picking her up. She definitely isn't properly awake and the longest I have left her is about three minutes so it would probably be a good idea to see how it plays out and whether she would go back to sleep by herself.
