Would you help a 9 month old, non crawling baby, walk by holding their hands?

One of my 9 month old twins just wants to be up on his feet walking by holding hands. To keep him happy, I think I've been letting him do this way too much. He can roll proficiently but isn't crawling. I'm very, very keen for him not to go straight to walking.

His brother can barely roll, gets stuck on his tummy a lot, but I'm actually less concerned about him as at least he's not wanting to walk holding hands!

My DD was like the walking keen twin. I indulged her too, and she skipped crawling altogether. Falls a lot, is not very coordinated.

Did anyone else do this and get away with it? By that I mean the baby did crawl first?? I will try and really cut down how much he walks, but I'm stressing... This is even worse because I really, really should know better!!!!

I wouldn't do it, but not for the reasons you are worried.

The reason I wouldn't do it is because once a baby starts holding hands walking its all they want to do and it's a pain in the arse, and back crippling to boot.

I doubt that skipping crawling is the reason your other child is uncoordinated, it's probably just how she is, whether she crawled or not.

DS1 never really crawled, he would roll until he got to where he could pull himself up and then cruise along. We had to position furniture and big toys around the living room so he could get about.

He walked at 9 1/2 months unaided and has fine coordination.

And lego, he can't pull to stand or cruise. Even more reason why I shouldn't do it.

I actually don't know how I've ended up doing this, I'm a physio Confused
