When did you stop using a buggy?

I've got 2 children; two and one year old boys. We have a double buggy and have shops near to the house. I'm wondering at what point we should look at a single buggy and make my toddler walk more. He's definitely not keen in the buggy but nor he is happy to walk even half the way home without being carried! I tried a buggy board before with no success but might have another go. He 'll be starting nursery in sept and thinking the walk (10 mins) might be a lot on top of a tiring new morning.
Any suggestions?!

DS1 was 19 months when I stopped using his buggy. DS2 was born at this time and I found the double buggy awkward, plus he was happy to walk and didn't complain. DS2 is 18 months soon but I think I shall keep his buggy longer. he's not so good with distances plus I shall have to get between school and playschool quickly come September when DS1 is at school and DS2is at playschool. Everyones situation is different and children cope with things at different ages. if im not in a hurry to get anywhere DS2 walks on his reigns now but if im rushing I use the pushchair xx

varied according to child

ds - was out of the buggy walking at every opportunity from 18 months. When dd was born, he was 2.5 and pretty much never went in the buggy again (unless very long way/very tired/ill)

dd1 - would still be in a buggy if I let her. dd2 was born when she was nearly3 and it was hard getting her to walk still is aged 7

dd2 was out and running like ds. Used the buggy mostly for all the school bags and coats that I got on the school run. Once she was about 2.5 I think we abandoned it.

But I did use bikes trikes and scooters too, which helps with tired kids. Mine could use a 3 wheeled scooter at 2.5, and with a bit or training were safe along the road.
