My DD has stopped sucking her thumb... Finally!

wanted to share our success in stopping DD(5 Yr1) sucking her thumb.
We have tried all sort of methods with no success. Dentist starting to get really arsey... DH and DD at loggerheads most of the time over it ruining their relationship. Final straw was watching DVD of Xmas nativity which showed DD sucking her thumb the whole time she wasn't actually singing and sometimes when she was.
We bought a thumb guard. Heart stoppingly expensive for what it is. I thought it looked a cruel thing to subject a child to.
BUT it has only taken one week of wearing it 24/7 to stop her entirely in the day. She literally sucked most of the day and has totally stopped.
I didn't fully believe the testimonials on the web site but it did work.
Still wearing it at night but may try stopping in a week or so and see how she does.
Wish we had done it two years ago and avoided the jaw and teeth issues she now has!
BTW I am nothing to do with the company selling them! Thought it mig help others in this position.

That's really helpful to know, my dd 4yrs is a thumb sucker, mainly just at bedtime. We are due to see the dentist at the end if the month and I was going to ask his opinion on how it is affecting her teeth.
Dreading trying to get her to stop though, it's going to hugely affect bedtimes as its been the way she has self soothed since three months old Shock

My DD has sucked since birth! She did not want to stop. But she really only had three days and nights when it was tricky. She is now getting to sleep without.

Hi. Can you post a link? My dd (4 years) is on a week long course of revolting antibiotics due to an infection in her thumb which is badly damaged by sucking. Would love to try and stop the sucking and a guard is probably the only thing that would work for us. TIA
