2 months in - what cool stuff is your baby starting to do?

My DD is now about 2 months old. She has suddenly become this amazing little person in the last couple of weeks. I thought it would be nice to share some of the cool stuff they do at this stage (to offset the other exhausting stuff they do!).

Some of the things I'm loving right now:

  • she smiles when she is pooing like she knows I'm going to have to clean it up and its the funniest thing ever
  • she's just starting to discover her hands and seems to wipe her mouth after she feeds before I can do it
  • I know she's not doing this intentionally yet but I love it when I'm carrying her and she puts her arm around my neck. It feels like a real hug

Mine grins every time she pukes all over her freshly washed clothes. And again 2 mins later with the next outfit change. And again 2 mins after that.

She is desperately trying to suck her thumb.

She smiles and gurgles at her sister.

ellesabe · 12/01/2013 20:13

Oh and she rubs her eyes when she's tired :)

Mine is 12 weeks and gives really cheeky grins as I'm trying to coax her to latch on and drink the breast milk. I too love the snuggly arm thing. And when she's asleep on my shoulder.

9 wk old DS smiles stares at his big sister as if in awe of her. Smile

Pandasandmonkeys · 12/01/2013 23:54

11wo DS has developed the most cheeky grin for when he is supposed to be sleeping in the crib bit is wide awake instead ! It's so cute you can't help but smile back.

He just started to be really strong with holding his head up too, he looks like a proper little boy!

Pandasandmonkeys · 12/01/2013 23:55

The snugly arm thing is amazing too!

DS is a bit further on, 3 and a half months. Agree the snuggly arm thing is lovely.

I love that first thing in the morning he is all huge beaming smiles like he's so happy to see mummy and daddy.

He's just got lots better at reaching and holding things like toys. When he is feeding he holds my breast like he's hugging it, as though someone might take it away, or hangs onto my top. Grabbing my hair and pulling is not so cool. Ouch. He seems to find that funny.

At around 10-11 weeks he very suddenly became very talkative. We have a "chat" and he makes fabulous noises. Blows bubbles and goes "brrrrr- A-gggggg" When he's happy and excited he does an ear- piercing high pitched squeal of joy. It cracks me up every time.

I love how they do things so suddenly, like one day they're not doing it, the next they are doing it all the time.

RoLoh · 13/01/2013 11:08

Yes, the noises are brilliant. Some of them do kind of sound like words. And the morning welcome smiles are wonderful. It's just amazing watching her discover her hands and what they're for too

I love watching my three month old chewing her hands - we thought it was hunger but last night she definitely sucked her thumb to go to sleep! the smiles are amazing, can't wait til she's laughing too.

MidLine · 14/01/2013 17:47

Yep, the smiles and noises are great...defo makes up for the crying and lack of sleep Grin
My 10 week old DD also puts her hand to her mouth when she sneezes! Hope she'll always be so polite Wink

sparklekitty · 14/01/2013 18:12

Our DD is slightly older again, almost 4 months.

I'm loving the picking things up and shoving everything in her mouth. Also loving the random chatting and gurlgling, esp when she looks at us with a a very serious look when chatting away as if you say 'I know you understand'

We've had a few proper giggles/laughs that sound like an actual grown up. Most of what she does now makes me laugh.

Oh and lacing her fingers together, when shes awake she looks like a scheming little old lady and when she sleeps like that just stupidly cute :)

CitrusyOne · 14/01/2013 21:04

My DD has done the lacing fingers thing since day 1. We reckon she looks like a Bond villain plotting some kind of evil plan!

ellesabe · 14/01/2013 21:28

I call it 'wizardry fingers' Grin

RoLoh · 14/01/2013 23:00

Mine did squirrel hands when she was new and I miss them!
