How much milk for a 15mo?

I think the guidelines are 14oz daily but my LO takes about 20oz whole cows milk and would take more if we'd let him. He has 4oz in a sippy cup with breakfast then 6oz late morning at nap time and then 9/10oz at bedtime.

Is it really a problem to give so much? Should I be trying to reduce it?

He has quite loose poos so I'm concerned that it could be too much milk causing this.

Anyone else experienced similar? Any advice welcomed!

Dd2, like ds1 at that age, is a total milk monster. I was worried about ds1, like you are, but he gradually reduced his intake himself. Dd2 is the same, she has three bottles a day still, which many people will think is too much. However, she eats well and drinks water from a cup in between. She's pretty tall for her age, again like ds was, so I've figured that's just what she needs. . She gets incredibly grumpy too if I try and withhold milk, so I let her have it. It's not like its chocolate or anything.

I wouldn't be worried as long as he ate a varied diet and his centiles were proportional. The guidelines are 300ml per day until he's 2 btw Smile

Thank. He eats pretty well - maybe need to get more chunky things into his diet and less mush to help with the poo business.

He is very tall too - could be something in that! Big bones requiring lots of calcium!

Could well be that he is tall and needs the energy. If he was on the 9th for height and the 90th for weight it might be more of a concern Smile

Good advice Jilted. Is the 300ml just milk? Or does it include other dairy. I reckon DS falls a little short of 300ml but usually has cheese or yoghurt or some other dairy products.

Sorry for hijacking!

Think it includes milk used in cooking, like cereal but not dairy but if he's having cheese, yogurt etc and Lo is growing and following centiles don't worry. If you want to offer other calcium rich foods salmon and sardines are both good Smile

Thank you :)
